Although I'm rating this a 7, it's more of an "in retrospect" rating that's been eased-up based on the game being released in 1990. There are too many frustrations in the levels to make it worth torturing yourself through them, and they're not particularly short. The gameplay isn't all that spectacular to warrant exploring anyway, and only the bosses at the end of the levels are meaningful. If you want to maximize enjoyment, play on easy. This frustrated me quite a lot, since I quickly got tired of having to repeat the same level over and over again. If you lose all of your lives at any point of the level, you have to restart the entire level all over again. The bosses aren't easy to deal with until you've learned their patterns, and you typically you won't manage that the first time through. Unfortunately, factors that will weigh on your enjoyment of the game are the atrocious hitboxes, the difficult bosses, and the lack of checkpoints. It is a cute little game with a lighthearted story. The game incorporates a Metroidvania-style map and is split into five levels after the introductory one, with a boss at the end of each one. Unsurprisingly, it is not a very complex game, and the controls are rather simple. 70% PCDuckTales is a game catered for children.
